Day care
Parents of children under school age have access to a range of daycare and club activities. Day care is provided in municipal and private day nurseries and family day care centres. There are several day-care centres in the Kotka-Hamina region. Most of the day-care centres are open from 6.30-17.00 and, if necessary, from 6.00-18.00. Some day-care centres also offer evening and weekend care.
Family day care is early childhood education in the home of the family day care provider. The maximum size of a family day care group is four children. Applications for day care places are often made online.

Financial support for families with children
When a child is born and grows up, parents are entitled to family leave and various benefits paid by Kela. The Kela office and telephone service can provide advice on all matters relating to Kela benefits.
Open early childhood education and care
Open early childhood education offers families with young children a comfortable place to have fun, do things together and enjoy peer support. The content of the activities is flexible and adaptable to needs and wishes. The activities are organised around school working hours and holidays. The open days are for children and carers. The days are free of charge and do not require prior registration.
