Support for housing

If you live permanently in Finland and are entitled to social security, you can apply for housing benefit if your income level falls. You can apply for Kela housing allowance for things like rent or water and heating costs. Please note that you may need to provide documents such as your income and assets to apply for housing benefit. You can apply for housing allowance on Kela’s website.

The City of Kotka’s free housing advisory service helps Kotka residents with housing-related matters, such as applying for benefits and housing support, finding a home, dealing with rent payment difficulties, and resolving eviction and disturbance situations.
